July 2020 ASC Updates

Hello Fellow Members!

What a Summer we have had at our club! This has been a year of change but one thing has not changed and that is the camaraderie, relaxation, and beauty you will find at the lake. We have faced challenges due to the pandemic but, as a team, we have continued to problem solve and create, to the best of our ability, a safe place to escape the day-to-day grind.

Our Junior Sailing Camp was an amazing success this year. Over 90 juniors participated in our camp. Kim and her crew added COVID protocols in place that helped ease any worries parents may have had. Furthermore, they had juniors on the water SAILING! I am very proud of the entire Junior Camp staff for there dedication and flexibility this Summer.

The July 4 Moultrie Family BBQ and Family Day was a great event as always. Thank you to the Braggs and all the volunteers this year!

We have several events on the horizon and we have been discussing how to make those happen in a safe manner. Unfortunately, we cannot do what we have done in the past. This is disappointing for some and that is understandable. However, our goal will continue to get people on the water! Events like Labor Day Regatta and Halloween Regatta are still moving forward but they will have COVID modification put in place much like we made for the Castleberry-Robertson Regatta. Information regarding the Labor Day Regatta will be available in the coming weeks on our website.

Speaking of our website, be sure you go to www.augustasailingclub.com and check it out soon. All members have a personal login that will unlock many great options for them. Please click on the "forgot username/password" button if you cannot remember your login information. All registrations and reservations should now be created through the website. This include regattas such as The Labor Day Regatta. It will be important that you complete your regatta registration before the event. Simply go to the calendar to register. Also, reservations for the clubhouse and for transient campsites should now be made through the website. You can find reservation under the "Member" tab. Our next event is the Wenches in the Wind. Registration on the website is now open. You can register by going to the calendar on the website. The event will look a little different this year. The main focus will be getting on the water! I hope to see you there!

Finally, we all recognize the importance of volunteering at the club. We want to be sure you know of volunteer opportunities. We have added a "Volunteer" tab to the website. Please be sure to monitor it and the website for updates regarding the club. This has been a very strange year! However, our club continues to be stronger together!

See you on the water,

Eli
