Dear ASC Members,
I am honored to serve as your Commodore as we begin a new year at our beloved sailing club. The past year since Helene’s visit has been filled with anxiety and hard work, but our recovery path has been remarkable! We are so fortunate to have had Bob Damen at the helm during this stressful time. His leadership has stabilized our club and prepared us to move forward with confidence.
Please be aware that chipping/mulching of the hurricane timber debris collected by Corps of Engineers contractors is beginning as of Monday, December 1, 2025, COE letter notification attached. Please use extreme caution when approaching the intersection with the new gravel road, and do not enter any portion of the debris storage area under any circumstances.
The clubhouse kitchen oven was left on after two events recently. This is a very dangerous situation and should never be repeated. Always check and double check that the stove and ovens are turned off when you are in charge of or participating in an event.
Our newly installed Board of Governors, list attached, will begin its work at the next Board Meeting on December 8 at 5:45pm. A draft agenda of the meeting is attached. Board meetings are open and all members are welcome. Meetings will be orderly and efficient. Members participating must be courteous and respectful toward Board members and each other and must follow the procedural practices of the meeting. Should there be questions or issues regarding conduct of meetings, Robert’s Rules of Order will control. Johnny Poole will serve as Parliamentarian.
As a reminder, volunteer hours must be submitted online byDecember 20thto avoid fees. Please use the below links.
Now that we are somewhat on our feet again, it’s time to move forward with a view toward future plans, long term sustainability, and improvement of ASC. Let’s pull together and take full advantage of our beautiful property and our special community.
We look forward to an exciting and productive year ahead.
Happy Holidays!
Pattie Booker
