Halloween Regatta is this weekend, October 9-11. Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who came out yesterday. Over 40 members (14 of which were Juniors) were out there picking up pine cones and sticks, raking beaches, decorating, washing and moving boats, putting up lights, etc. It was an amazing volunteer effort that left our club looking beautiful. We are all so appreciative of your time and contribution.
That being said, I am so thankful to all of you that have signed up to help this weekend. However, we still have several important volunteer spots open, such as helping with Saturday Dinner, setting up the coffee table on Sunday, assisting with small boat launch and recovery on Saturday and Sunday, and helping with check-in throughout the weekend. Even if you are racing, I ask that all of you find at least one small area to help. It's super easy to volunteer now. All you have to do is login to the new website, go to the volunteer tab, and click on volunteer sign ups. If you have any difficulty or questions, just email me. I'd be more than happy to help.
For the safety of our members and guests, several COVID precautionary measures will be in place throughout the Halloween Regatta weekend.
- From Friday afternoon until Sunday evening, the clubhouse will remain locked. The kitchen will be open for kitchen staff/volunteers only. Please do not plan on using the kitchen during the weekend.
- The clubhouse bathrooms will be open but with a recommended 3 person maximum occupancy at one time.
- All members and guests will be greeted at the front gate and have their temperatures checked before entering. Anyone with a fever of 100.4 or higher will be asked not to enter.
- Each person entering will be asked to wear a social distancing bracelet while on club grounds. Please make sure children understand what these bracelets mean and remind them the importance of keeping their distance from others throughout the entire weekend.
- All power boats launching from west dock may leave their trailers in the upper dry storage area or the boneyard. The usual parking area in front of west dock will be marked off and used for dinghy trailers only. We have several out-of-town guests that will be launching from west dock.
- All members and guests are expected to wear masks during launch and recovering and at any other time when it is impossible to socially distance by 6 feet or more.
- There will be no check-in or registration tables. All questions or sail number changes should be directed to myself, Kim Bagnoni, by email or text during the weekend.
- For those of you coming for Saturday dinner, we encourage you to bring a chair or picnic blanket and enjoy your dinner on the clubhouse lawn while watching the sunset and listening to music from Bethany Davis.
- Make sure to BYOB, as the bar will be closed for the weekend.
Thank you all for your support. Obviously, this may not look like our typical Halloween Regatta; however, we are truly fortunate to be able to host such a large sailing event during these unusual times. I ask for everyone's patience as the beach and grounds will be crowded with boats and tents. Please make an effort to welcome our out-of-town guests, many of whom will be visiting ASC for the first time. Again, if any of you have questions or need help, please do not hesitate to contact me. I hope you all have a wonderful Halloween Regatta!!
Thank you,
Kim Bagnoni
