2020 CASTLEBERRY-ROBERTSON REGATTA

“LET’S GET BACK TO RACING”

May 23-24, 2020

COVID-19 STATEMENT

Covid-19:  US Sailing, SAYRA, and ASC recommend single-handed sailing or family sailing during this pandemic.  The safety and health of each member is the responsibility of the individual member.  Any members using club boats shall clean and sanitize the boat prior to and after each use.

The safety of our members and staff are the driving force for the modifications to this annual event. Our other option was to simply cancel the event. This annual event is a great way to get back together as a club and enjoy being on the water.  We will monitor the situation daily and make appropriate changes as needed. Look to the website for any changes. Please note there will be no onsite registrations. Our scoring committee will be safely working remotely from home. Competitors will not need to check-in for this event, so please make sure that you register online with your correct sail number.

The organizing authority is the Augusta Sailing Club at Strom Thurmond Lake at Clarks Hill.

Rules: Racing is governed by the rules defined by US Sailing: The Racing Rules of Sailing, individual class rules, ASC PHRF rules and Sailing Instructions (SI available at registration).

Classes: Racing is open to any dinghy with a current Portsmouth handicap rating.

Castleberry-Robertson Trophy fleet for dinghies.

Open Skiffs, Optis, RS Teras will sail as their own fleet.

Junior non-Skiff boats will sail with Castleberry Fleet

Commodore’s Cup Fleet for E Scows.

PHRF SPIN, PHRF NON-SPIN

Scoring: Scoring of each race will be based on corrected times. Corrected times will be calculated with the “Time-on-Time” method using Portsmouth ratings.  E-Scows and Open Skiffs shall be scored as one design fleets. Any fleet with 3 or more boats will also be scored as one-design.  The low point scoring system Rule A-4 will apply.  One race will constitute a regatta. All scoring will be done remotely.

Fees: Entry fee for the Regatta is $20 per boat.

Registration: Registration will be online only and will be available until Saturday, May 22, 6:00 pm. There will be no on-site registration. A completed registration form and entry fee shall be submitted as part of the registration. Payment is required at the time of registration.

Schedule: A competitors meeting will be held virtually on Friday May 22, 6:30 pm on the Zoom platform.  A recorded version will be available Saturday May 23. The starting sequence will begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 23 and 12:00 noon on Sunday, May 24.

Courses: Courses will start at the end of F dock. Government marks shall be used.  PHRF race will start first. Optis, RS Terras, and Open Skiffs will have a beach start and course set on East beach pavilion. The remaining fleet will start at the end of F dock with course to be determined. Courses will be determined based on the speed and direction of the wind. Change to Time Limits:  A PHRF boat sailing a “distance course” finishing more than 90 minutes after the first boat of that fleet finishes 3.5 hours, whichever is later, will be scored “DNF.”

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers for the Castleberry-Robertson Trophy, Commodore’s Cup, Open Skiff Fleet, as well as top junior finishers in the Castleberry Fleet. The top finisher in each fleet having three or more of the same boat will also receive an award. Note: Only ASC members are eligible to receive the Castleberry-Robertson trophy or the Commodore’s Cup.

Social: Saturday afternoon – Bring your Meat to the Grill.  The Grill will be provided and all cutlery.  Beer is included with registration and will be dispensed from the club house.

Sunday after finish of racing, beverages will be provided.
