START
- The starting area is an imaginary box bounded by a line drawn in the shortest manner from the face of the dam to Buoy 1 (green) then to Buoy 2 (red) and then in the most direct manner to the face of the dam. The starting area does not include the prohibited area near the dam as marked by white/orange buoys. The starting line is the imaginary line from Buoy 1 to Buoy 2.
FINISH
- - At Noon, Sunday May 28, 2006 all participants will sound their horn, note the last buoy passed on the course and the number of completed circuits of the course. Report your result to the Official Scorer in person at the ASC Clubhouse or via VHF channel 68, or telephonically to the number given at the start. All scores must be turned in by 3:30 PM Sunday May 26, 2006 to be considered
Course Detail
- After passing the starting line, the course will go north leaving all red buoys to starboard except Buoy 44, which must be passed to port. The course then shifts south with green Buoys 43-13 to starboard.
At Buoy 13 turn west and follow Little River taking Red Buoys 2-24 to starboard. Buoy 26 is the turn and will pass to port. Then turn east and keep Buoys 25-1 to starboard until reaching the main channel.
The course is then south with Buoys 11-2 to starboard. Buoy 1 is the turn and will pass to port. The course then repeats.
- Except at the start and the three turning buoys (Buoy 1, 44, and LR26) you must remain in the channel defined by the government red and green buoys. This will ensure that all boats sail the same course and no "shortcuts" are taken.
- For convenience, or necessity, any participant may leave the course for rest, re-supply, or repairs. If the participant chooses to resume the race, the yacht must re-enter the course at the same point as the course was left. The yacht must be under sail when re-entering the course.
Safety Requirements
- The minimum crew size is two. One crewmember must be on watch at all times. Yachts that choose to only have one watchkeeper on duty at night must provide the crewmember with life jacket and light capable of at least 8 hours operation in the water (chemical lightsticks may meet this requirement. The lifejacket and light must be worn by the solo crewmember at all times during the hours of darkness.
- Finally the required lights for night sailing as required by law must be working at the start of the race
COST
- Cost $10 per yacht. Personalized trophies will be provided to the winner.
